Casino Copenhagen’s corporate materials describe Denmark’s first international casino licence, granted by the Ministry of Justice in October 1990 and inaugurated on 31 December 1990. This page is a reader’s chronology, not an archive held by the casino.
Opening night
The casino opened on New Year’s Eve 1990 within the Radisson Blu Scandinavia Hotel tower on Amager Boulevard. The address remains Amager Boulevard 70, 2300 Copenhagen S (København S).
International salon model
From the start the house marketed an international gaming salon: live American-style roulette and blackjack, punto banco, poker and electronic gaming spread across roughly 3,000 m² on three levels according to operator summaries. We do not reproduce unpublished shareholder minutes.
Poker stage and group structure
The venue became a regular host for Nordic and European poker calendars in public tournament records. Casino Copenhagen K/S is presented as equally owned by CIH Scandinavia Hotel and Casinos Austria International GmbH in company disclosures cited on the casino site.
Licence renewal
Operator materials refer to a ten-year licence renewal effective from 1 January 2019 under Danish gambling supervision now exercised by Spillemyndigheden. Renewal terms are a matter between the licence-holder and the authority, not this guide.
Same boulevard, expanded digital layer
The casino remains at the hotel address with ticketed entry, annual cards, licence-plate parking and digital guest Wi‑Fi. It is one of five Danish casinos in the Casinos Austria International network alongside Vesterport, Marienlyst, Odense and Munkebjerg.
